Yann was born in Malaysia and started to sing since she was 6 years old. She recevied formal classical singing training when she was 15 years old. Yann was awarded numerous vocal prizes in Malaysia, including "Singer of the Year" in the inaugural Classical Singing Competition Malaysia. She continued her success in Perth, where she won numerous first places at the North of Perth Music Festival and the Western Australian Music Teachers Association.
Yann is a vocal coach in the prestigious Perth College and Corpus Christi College since 2003. In addition, she has her own private singing studio ‘Connecsion’ which continues to produce many successful examination and competition candidates. Her students has been awarded many first places in music festivals, Eistedfford and competitions in various genre such as Classical, Musical Theatre and Contemporary. Yann also enjoy being judges for many vocal competitions since 2004.
Yann is a regular adjudicator for many competitions. In May 2016, she was invited as the vocal coach and judge for the prominent TV show "China The Voice", which for their very first competition held in Perth.
Yann was selected to be the 2008 Emerging Artist for the Lieder Society of Western Australia (known as Art Song Perth now). In this capacity she not only appears in the Society’s Recital Series but also attended classes with many prestigious vocal and language coaches, specialised in art songs.
Yann is currently working with the Western Australia Opera Company and has performed in many of their productions such as Otello, Il Trovatore, L'elisir d'amore, Madama Butterfly, Faust, The Pearl Fishers, The Magic Flute and etc. She has also performed with the Australian Opera Studio in their productions of Der Fledermaus, Tancredi and Don Giovanni.
In addition, Yann recently has played the role of Princess Mi in Gilbert and Sullivan Society production of the opera "The Land of Smiles ".
She also appears regularly on Art Song Perth series concerts as a solo recitalist.
Besides, Yann performed regularly with the prominent St. Mary’s Cathedral in their concert series.
